Noriko Ambe

Noriko Ambe was born in Saitama, Japan in 1967. She obtained a BFA in oil painting from Musashino Art University in Tokyo. Her recent body of work involves topographical map or wave papercuts that are supposed to be the traces of her actions and emotions. She says that the "relationship between linear actions and materials is like the relationship between human beings and their restricted environment, a connection that is interested in me, too." She believes that the process of creating is just as important as the finished piece. Her work has been displayed in many galleries, museums, and publications worldwide, most notably for me the Whitney Museum of American Art In NYC.
